KekeNow Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 June 2026
KekeNow (“we”, “us”) is a ride-hailing app that connects riders with nearby tricycle (“keke”) drivers in Ghana. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: getkekenow@gmail.com.
What we collect
We only collect what the service needs to work.
Everyone (riders and drivers)
- Phone number - you sign in with your phone number (a one-time code by SMS).
- Name - the name you enter, shown to the rider or driver you’re matched with.
- Precise location - used while the app is open to show nearby kekes, set your pickup point, and (for drivers) share your position with riders while you are online. We do not track your location in the background.
- Notification token - a device token so we can send ride alerts.
- Trip, rating, and feedback data - your trips (pickup point, time, the other party, status), the star rating and optional note a rider leaves, feedback you send us, and a record that a rider tapped “call” a driver (the number tapped and the time - never the call itself or its contents).
- Crash and diagnostic data - if the app crashes or misbehaves, we collect a crash report (what went wrong, plus your device model and operating-system version) through Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. This is not linked to your identity.
Drivers only (identity verification / “KYC”)
- A photo of yourself, shown to riders so they can recognise their keke.
- Photos of your Ghana Card (front and back) and driving licence - used only to verify you before you can go online. These are visible to our review staff, not to riders.
We do not collect payment or banking information, email, your contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or sites.
How we use it
- Sign you in and keep your account (phone number).
- Match rides - show nearby drivers, your pickup, and live driver location.
- Let the two of you connect - your name (and, after a match, a driver’s phone number) is shown to the other party so the ride can happen.
- Verify drivers - review the Ghana Card and licence before approval.
- Send ride notifications (requests, responses, and cancellations).
- Safety and quality - ratings, feedback, and trip records help keep the service safe.
- Keep the app working - crash and diagnostic reports help us find and fix bugs.
Who can see your information
- The other party in a ride sees what’s needed to complete it: your name, your photo (drivers), and - once matched - a driver’s phone number.
- Our review staff see driver verification documents to approve drivers.
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions, Crashlytics) processes and stores data on our behalf. Maps are provided by Apple Maps (iOS) and Google Maps (Android).
- We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users’ safety.
Data storage, security, and retention
Data is stored with Google Firebase and protected in transit with encryption (HTTPS/TLS) and by access rules that limit who can read each record. We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Crash and diagnostic data is not tied to your account and is automatically deleted by Firebase Crashlytics after about 90 days.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. This permanently removes your account, profile, driver documents and photos, feedback, call logs, and ratings, and removes your name and number from your past trips. This cannot be undone. For step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion if you have uninstalled the app, see Delete your account.
Your rights
You can access or delete your personal data as above, or contact us at getkekenow@gmail.com. We handle personal data consistent with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012.
Permissions we ask for
- Location (while using the app) - to find nearby kekes and share a driver’s position with riders.
- Camera and Photos - so drivers can take or upload their verification photos.
- Notifications - to alert you about ride requests and responses.
You can change these in your device settings; some features won’t work without them.
Children
KekeNow is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Changes
We’ll update this page if our practices change and revise the “Last updated” date above.
